CONTACTING  PR. KELLY

I want to make sure that you all know I want to be as available to you as possible. To that end, I need to make sure that you all know how you can contact me. Feel free to use my cell phone as you need to. The number is 215-872-0989. (By the way, Karen’s cell phone is 215-872-0949. We do not have a landline.) I am a light sleeper and over the years Karen and I have learned how to deal with emergency calls that come late at night. If you have an emergency, please don’t hesitate to call me regardless of the time.

 My email address is revkel@comcast.net

(Karen’s is kbak58@comcast.net). I generally take Fridays and Saturdays off. Having said that, if you need to talk to me: CALL ME. If  I can’t take your call right then, I will get back to you as soon as I can. I generally try to respond to voice messages and emails within 24 hours. If your need to contact me is urgent, please indicate that in your message. If  I don’t get back to you, please contact me again. I won’t think you’re badgering me and I certainly DON’T want you to think I am ignoring you! It may be possible that I did not receive your message. I am generally (but by no means always) in the office during the office hours (M-F, 9-Noon). If you plan to catch me in the office, you may want to call

ahead as I may be out of the office to a meeting or on other church business. I look forward to being in contact with each of you.

Please make a note that the office of Messiah Lutheran Church is open from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Messiah has donated to St. Casimir’s for the month of January:

21 vegetables, 1 butter bean, 1 box granola bars,

3 peanut butter, 2 jelly, 4 tuna, 2 spaghetti & meatballs, 6 spaghetti sauce, 8 macaroni & cheese, 1 penne pasta, 4 spaghetti, 1 detergent,

1 can water chestnuts, 2 diced tomatoes, 1 can of chicken, 1 spaghetti & franks, 1 box farfalle,

2 crushed tomatoes, 1 tomato puree, 7 soup,

1 shampoo, 2 toothbrushes, 1 bag noodles, 1 can minced clams, 2 cans sauerkraut, 2 scalloped potatoes, 2 mashed potatoes, 1 can chili,

2 stewed tomatoes, 2 cans icing, 2 pork & beans, 3 cereal and 1 jello.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues. “  – Romans 12:27-28 (emphasis mine)

Even St. Paul recognized that effective witness for Jesus requires many different persons with different skills, gifts and talents to work together. Just like it takes feet, eyes, ears and other parts to make a body. Not everyone is gifted to teach children. It would be foolish to expect everyone to take turns preaching. Not everyone is comfortable with numbers. However, all the different functions of the church must be fulfilled, or the mission suffers. It would be sad indeed if someone did not hear the Gospel, because some position of leadership in the church went vacant.

Messiah needs someone to serve as Treasurer. The treasurer is basically responsible for three areas:

1.      Financial disbursements (paying the bills)

2.      Financial reporting (monthly financial statements and external reporting)

3.      Ensuring adequate safeguards of our financial assets (basic diligence)

Chris Sorenson has been serving as Treasurer for several years and would like to be able to turn this responsibility over to someone else. She is willing to help get the new person “up to speed” and continue to lend assistance as needed. Please pray about this. If you are, or know someone who is: faithful, detail oriented, comfortable with numbers and reliable please speak to Chris Sorenson.
